About Us - The Team
One of the most rewarding parts of this job is doing it side-by-side with a group of passionate and supremely competent outdoorsman. This team of highly motivated and capable individuals is the backbone of our operation and we owe our success to them.
When We're In The Mountains, We're Alive, And There's No Place We'd Rather Be.
Rod Boothby, Lead Packer/Guide
Rod Boothby is a lifetime outdoorsman and horseman with a love for adventure, wilderness, animals and people. He is an expert backcountry guide and packer, and also has a talent for cowboy poetry and music which sometimes comes out around the campfire. Rod lives with his wife Marcia in a remote cabin in the Swan Valley and works at construction and custom saddlery when he is not leading trips in the Bob Marshall. Rod is a dedicated family man with two daughters, and two grandchildren, all of whom enjoy exploring the remote corners of Montana's wild country.
Adam Lieberg, Naturalist/Guide
Adam Lieberg is a seasoned fishing guide and accomplished naturalist. Adam teaches our guests birding by ear, animal tracking, and plant identification and has developed a keen interest in leading wolf ecology trips. He lives and works in the Swan Valley where he also serves as Northwest Connections' Conservation Program Coordinator.
Rebekah Rafferty, Cook
Rebekah Rafferty is an excellent horse woman and a graduate student in wildlife management. Rebekah has recently shined up her backcountry cooking credentials, even pulling together our first completely gluten free trip! She is great with people and whips up some fantastic, healthy grub. When she is not cooking for WTR, she is hiking, writing, tracking and developing her mastery of Montana natural history.
Greg Ward, Backcountry Cook
Greg, an avid outdoorsman, comes to us via Alaska, Oklahoma, and Montana. He was born and raised in Helena and eventually settled in Oklahoma, where he raised his family and owned a real estate firm for 20 years. After divesting himself of the real estate company, Greg decided (at the urging of his three grown, lovely daughters) to pursue his passion: cooking. Greg is equally comfortable as the chef in a resort setting, or camp cook in the mountains. He’s beyond enthusiastic about creating culinary experiences for hunters and pack trippers in the beauty of the backcountry (and not being in an office!).
